Services for Young People

Services for Young People provides youth work projects, information, advice, guidance, work related learning and wider support for young people aged 11 to 17 and up to 25 for some vulnerable groups.

Borehamwood Jobcentre Plus

The Borehamwood Jobcentre Plus helps people move from benefits into work and helps employers advertise jobs. It also deals with benefits for people who are unemployed or unable to work because of a health condition or disability.

Delivering Special Provision Locally (DSPL) Areas 6 and 9

Our mission is to meet the needs of children and young people with special education needs and/or disabilities (SEND), aged 0-25, as close to home as possible, improve outcomes for wellbeing and attainment, widen the choices available to them, remove barriers to learning and identify ways to use resources more effectively.

Herts Mind Network

The Herts Mind Network provides mental health support and has dedicated services for 15-18 year-olds.

Mind in Herts is a provider of mental health services in Hertfordshire and has an office in Hertsmere, providing services for people aged 16 and over.

Services include: social support, workshops for recovery and wellbeing, counselling, 1:1 emotional and practical support, vocational support, a young people’s group and outreach support in Hertsmere.

The Herts Sport and Physical Activity Partnership (HSP) work collaboratively to create the conditions for an active nation and use the power of sport and physical activity to transform lives.

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service provides a range of educational programmes for young people, including Fire Cadets, Juvenile Fire-setter Intervention Scheme and Life Project.

Hertfordshire Police—Schools and Gangs Team

This Hertfordshire Police specialist team targets early intervention to educate young people about gang and knife crime. Professionals can refer young people if they are not currently engaged with another agency.

Hertsmere Scouts

The Scout Section is for young people aged between 10½ and 14. Explorer Scouts are for young people aged between 14 and 18. There are a number of groups in Hertsmere - get in touch to find out more.

Potters Bar & District Scouting includes Cuffley, North Mymms, Brookmans Park, Northaw, Little Heath and the surrounding areas. They have seven groups for ages 6-25.

Saferplaces

Saferplaces is an independent charity covering Hertfordshire and Essex, which provides a range of services to women, men and children affected by domestic and sexual abuse and stalking.

Saferplaces offers outreach support, refuge services, the Triple R programme, counselling, stalking support service and legal surgeries.
