Young People's Health & Wellbeing Survey, 2023
Services for Young People work in partnership with Public Health Hertfordshire to deliver this annual survey.
In 2023 responses were received from 16,300 Hertfordshire secondary school students a 40% increase on the previous year. The survey included questions about home life, wellbeing, diet, physical activity, smoking, alcohol use, drug use, sexual health, mental health, bullying and safety.
The information gathered is used to develop Services for Young People’s support for young people and the 10 SfYP district Youth Strategy Partnership Groups and SfYP Youth Councils/Forums use the results to adapt local action plans, enabling different organisations to work together to support young people across the county.

Young people's annual user survey, 2022
The young people’s annual survey 2022 was open from late January to late March 2023 for young people to provide feedback on the services SfYP provided in 2022 and what we could do to improve them.
626 young people told us what they thought of our services and the majority of participants fell within the 13-16 age group (80%). Overall, 78% of young people rated our services 7 out of 10 or higher. 39% gave a rating of 10 out of 10.
Young people said that SfYP has helped them to build their confidence, make the right choices, be more independent and happier.

Hertfordshire young people’s survey, winter 2021
In late 2021, Services for Young People (SfYP) developed a follow-on countywide survey from that held in 2019. Young people aged 11-17 (and up to 25 for those with special educational needs) were asked what the issues of greatest concern were to them currently, and if these had changed following the pandemic. Out of school provision and how SfYP and partners could improve services and support was also explored.
Over 7,500 young people who live or attend a school/college in Hertfordshire completed this survey. There were new areas of concern identified for young people and these, along with other key findings can be found in the summary of results here:

Hertfordshire young people’s survey, summer 2020
Our summer 2020 young people's survey aimed to capture the voices of young people aged 11-17 across Hertfordshire during the Covid-19 pandemic, to understand their priorities and concerns during the lockdown period; and what had changed for them since the survey we carried out at the end of 2019.
While most young people agreed that the priority issues identified in the 2019 survey were still important, some new issues were highlighted. 2,608 surveys were fully completed and you can read the key findings and recommendations in the executive summary here:
Hertfordshire young people’s survey, winter 2019
Almost 10,000 young people aged 11-17 living or going to school in Hertfordshire completed our winter 2019 survey. Climate change, mental health, bullying, knife crime and body image were all identified as key concerns.
Young people were asked what they thought about the support available to them, what challenges they felt they faced and what their greatest concerns were. The survey (completed before the lockdown) also aimed to identify gaps in what was available to young people outside of school and ensure that those who provide services can adequately plan for the future.
The results of the survey are being used to ensure that services and support for young people across Hertfordshire are developed through needs-based evidence, so that they are valuable, relevant and inclusive.
