[My son] was super brave and went over to speak with student support to understand a little about accommodations that might be possible to help him study there and hear about their neurodiverse community. We also had a look at internships and work experience too, following the links you gave him on space careers. He's up for something like that… Thank you!”

Throughout Year 11, she has supported him with his Preparing for Adulthood’ (PfA) Transition Plan and post 16 options, ensuring he receives the necessary help and support. She has consistently gone above and beyond. Her tireless efforts, including reaching out for follow-ups and going the extra mile to find solutions even in areas outside of her expertise, have made a world of difference for my son. In his 16 years, no one else has shown the level of patience, kindness, understanding, humility, honesty, and respect for his feelings and struggles that she has demonstrated. She is truly an amazing individual, and I cannot thank her enough for all that she has done."

She has been extremely diligent and supportive, not only has she kept me informed, but she also chased the consultations… and we have now received the news that he can return to EOB. My main concern was that my son would miss a large portion of his education but thanks to her dedication and hard work he will have only missed 1 week. She is a wonderful lady and is a credit to your team and should be commended for her hard work and efforts. Thanks so much.”

"My daughter has anxiety and panic attack disorder. She tried three schools in three years before they finally understood her medical diagnosis and she was allowed to be educated online at home. Throughout this time she grew isolated and lonely.

In March she took the first step and attended the Raising Aspirations group that meets on Fridays. This is a huge step for any teenager let alone one with debilitating anxiety. For the first time in years she met others in the same position as her, facing the same challenges. It was a turning point.

Being 16 she needed to be treated like an equal and that's what makes the team at SfYP so special. They spoke to her, laughed with her and encouraged the group with activities to join in or be independent if they chose. She felt that she wasn't judged and could just be herself. She could use her phone, she could come and go as an adult and be respected.

She came out of that first group with a huge smile on her face. She'd made friends. From there she joined the evening [youth work project] at the [young people’s] centre. She meets others from the group outside and has proven to herself that she has the skills to make friends wherever she goes. Teens are often viewed as having the best time of their life. But many are not. Thank you and your team for your invaluable contribution to Watford and my family".
