Services for Young People (SfYP) has been delivering careers guidance services in schools and colleges for over two decades. We continue to be the trusted provider of these service for most schools and colleges in Hertfordshire.

Our most popular traded service is Personal careers guidance interviews. These enable schools and colleges to fulfil their statutory duty to provide all Year 7 to Year 13 students with access to impartial careers guidance and achieve Gatsby Benchmark 8.

This feedback from a student at Herts & Essex High School, Bishop's Stortford, in May 2023, following a guidance interview with an SfYP Personal Adviser, shows how much students benefit from the meetings.

"I can't stress enough how helpful this meeting was… and how wonderful [the Personal Adviser] was at taking into consideration all of what we discussed in the meeting; [my Action Plan] is extremely thought out and [it] has taken such a weight off my shoulders due to the reassurance, feedback on my previous plan and clear next steps of what I should be doing to inform my future decisions."

SfYP also supports schools with:

  • Work experience and encounters with employers essential for developing students’ knowledge of the 'world of work' and enabling them to learn practical skills and make informed decisions about their next steps.

Our two Advisers are incredibly knowledgeable, supportive and proactive in their approach and have provided an excellent quality of service to our young people. They communicate in a timely fashion, understand the pressures of a busy school environment and liaise well with both each other and myself to ensure appointments run smoothly. They are both a fantastic asset to the school. I have also greatly valued their input and experience in ensuring our careers programme goes from strength to strength.”
