We are looking for young Black people aged 14 to 18 to volunteer to be part of this new Young People’s Race Inclusion Forum. Participation will involve attending meetings hosted at one of our young people’s centres. The meetings can be joined online if attending in person is not possible.
Two 2-hour meetings are planned each school term. Each meeting will explore different areas of policing and will seek insights and feedback from the forum members. Topics we expect to cover include ‘stop and search’, recruitment challenges, and broader areas of policing management. The young people’s feedback will make a tangible impact on Hertfordshire Constabulary’s future work.
Youth Workers from Services for Young People will be present at the meetings to support the young people and work with the Hertfordshire Constabulary in progressing this important agenda.
This is an exciting and unique opportunity for young people to have their voice heard and be involved in how Hertfordshire is policed, particularly from the perspective of the Black community. Certificates of participation will be provided to all who take part.
Places are limited so please register as soon as possible by completing the form below. Registrations are accepted from parents/carers, professionals who work with young people and young people themselves. Parental consent will be required before attendance at the meetings.
The Young People’s Race Inclusion Forum is part of Hertfordshire Constabulary’s response to the National Police Race Action Plan which aims to create a police service that is anti-racist and trusted by Black people.
